StopElbit.cz is an independent civil initiative based in the Czech Republic and formed as a collective of individuals who are seeking accountability and transparency regarding the operations of Elbit Systems in the Czech Republic. In particular, our initiative is concerned with Elbit's cooperation with Czech companies, such as L.P.P. holding a.s., operating in the city of Pardubice and beyond. We act collectively, horizontally and without any political party affiliations or institutional backing.
We came together in response to the presence of Elbit Systems, Israel's largest privately-owned defense and and security company, in the regional city of Pardubice. The expansion of military-industrial actors in local communities raises serious questions that extend beyond geopolitical issues. These include corporate transparency, public accountability, environmental impact, the use of public funds, community impact for the region, and the general ethical implications of arms production.
Regardless on one's position in international conflicts, the operation of such a major weapons manufacturer within a local community affects us all and deserves to be put under public scrutiny. Defense corporations operate within global supply chains that can expose host countries and local communities to safety, economic, and diplomatic risks, especially given the current geopolitical context and proven use of technology developed by this company in human rights abuses and violations of international law.
We believe communities have the right to be informed and take ethical action when corporate practices conflict with social, environmental, or human rights standards as well as the long-term wellbeing of the local population.
Our concerns center on:
- Environmental and safety implications for the region
- The broader impact on the local community of Pardubice
- Ethical implications of arms exports
- Czech Republic's responsibilities under international law
- The influence of lobbyists associated with private weapons manufacturers on regional and national politics
Our actions revolve around community outreach and advocacy efforts, mainly through awareness campaigns and public discussions. Our goal is to encourage a targeted boycott and divestment from companies complicit or directly participating in unethical practices.
Our values:
- Human Rights and Dignity
- Environmental Justice
- Solidarity and Collective Care
- Moral Opposition to War
- Transparency
We invite individuals, organizations, and community members to learn more, share information, and participate in this collective effort.
